// PAYMENT CHOICES

Pay monthly or one-off: compare the whole agreement

Both payment routes can be sensible. The decision depends on cash flow, the agreed work, who looks after the website and when ownership transfers. The smaller initial payment is not the same as a smaller total commitment.

Compare commitment as well as cash flow

Monthly payments can make an agreed project easier to accommodate in a regular business budget. The full minimum term still matters. If the business may change direction quickly, discuss that before choosing a commitment.

A one-off build can suit a business with an available project budget that wants to arrange future care separately after the included period. It still needs a maintenance and renewal plan; paying for the build does not remove operating work.

A fair comparison needs the same work

Compare the page allowance, design approach, integration scope and content responsibilities first. Then compare payment timing and ongoing cover. Do not treat an entry-level brochure package as equivalent to a bespoke store because both have a monthly payment option.

The calculator shows the published build figures and care-period difference. Optional care is an explicit assumption, not an automatic charge or a promise that an existing website qualifies for a plan.

Questions to settle before agreeing either route

  • What is the exact deliverable list, and who supplies content?
  • Who controls the domain and what happens at renewal?
  • Which third-party software licences need renewing or replacing on transfer?
  • What early-cancellation and handover conditions will be written into the agreement?
  • Which support tasks continue, and only if you choose them?

THE NUMBERS, WITH THE QUALIFICATIONS

Compare the first 24 months

This compares the published package figures. Check the complete scope and ongoing responsibilities before choosing a payment route.

Monthly agreement

£1,176

24 × £49. Includes hosting and technical care throughout the agreement. Ownership transfers after the cleared payments.

Known one-off build figure

£995

£995 build, including 12 months hosting and essential maintenance. Care/hosting for months 13–24 has not been priced into this figure.

No VAT added. A domain is included if you do not supply one. Additional pages, content creation, premium software and advanced functionality may cost extra. Future renewals and unquoted extras are excluded. No automatic renewal of the website-build instalments after month 24; maintenance is optional. This is not a claim that the two routes have identical ongoing scope.
